Can I trust you? (I’m your interviewer, new contact, old friend, etc.) – jobseekers

Can I trust you? (I’m your interviewer, new contact, old friend, etc.)

I think LinkedIn has made the phrase “know and trust” more popular than it was.

I want to talk about TRUST.

I read an article titled Google Keep is already shaky because I like to learn from (a) what Google does, and (b) what people think of it.

I was interested in this line:

And yet, does Google think that users will now trust our notes to its cloud, after previously shutting down similar services like Google Notebook or Google Bookmarks Lists?

The message the author says is: why should I trust Google with my valuable thoughts, notes, and clips in their new service, supposedly like Evernote, when I trusted them before and THEY FAILED ME?

In other words, people say: I used to trust Google, but when they announced that they were ending the services I was using, I lost some confidence. And now they want me to entrust them with other things? How long will it take?

Let’s bring it to YOU. As a job seeker, business owner, networker… Do you have integrity?

If you say something, do people believe you?

If you promise something, or approve of something, or introduce me to someone, can I trust you?

If you’re having networking problems and you’re doing mechanics the right way and you have a heart in it (i.e. I’m assuming you’re doing all the right things), maybe trust is your problem.

EITHER you have not established a relationship of trust with your relationships, OR you have done something (or someone said something) to break that trust.

If I can trust you, I will help you.

If I can’t trust you, I won’t help you.

BUILD TRUST.

How do you do it?

By having real, authentic relationships. But don’t go and say you’re real and authentic… This causes a skeptic like me to tend not to believe you.

Build trust by being a good person.

Do what you say.

Go the extra mile.

All those clichéd things. But if you do them and it happens to you, it’s not a cliché. It is integrity.

And I LOVE working with people who are honest. I will help them as much as I can.

And you will be too.
